For many of us, studying while working abroad might seem impossible due to the high costs and fierce competition. Studying in Indonesia is the norm, where graduates typically seek employment locally. However, who says that studying while working is just a dream? Albar Razid, a 2021 graduate of Rudi Russel Akademie, is living proof. Known simply as Albar, he chose the Ausbildung program in Germany as his last option to improve his life.
Albar's decision stemmed from his desire to continue his education abroad, where the emphasis is more on practical learning than theory, and the costs are more affordable. After researching, he attended an Ausbildung seminar hosted by Rudi Russel Akademie and decided to enroll because he found the academy trustworthy. Albar was particularly drawn to the assurance of employment after graduation and the stipend during education, “So I wouldn’t burden my parents while in Germany,“ he said.
Albar’s journey to Germany required immense patience and effort. Despite investing much time, energy, and tears, he remained resilient. Though he graduated in 2021, Albar only made it to Germany in June 2023. Why the delay? Albar had to repeatedly take the Goethe exams, facing several setbacks.
“My confidence took a hit due to continuous failures. I wondered if maybe the Ausbildung wasn't meant for me and doubted my abilities. It was disheartening to see my peers leave while I struggled alone,” he shared. For 2 years, Albar took a break, but even during this break, Albar continued to study in between working. He started by taking on several part-time jobs to gather some money, and even worked as an online motorcycle taxi driver for a while. At times, he felt like giving up due to the challenges of passing the Goethe language tests.
“If it weren’t for the encouragement from my parents and teachers, I would have given up. Her Steve and Her Rudi, in particular, provided solutions that eased my burden,” he said. Mr. Rudi, the academy's owner, and his team were moved by Albar's determination and offered additional tutoring and Goethe test preparation without extra charges.
Albar chose to study as a chef (Koch) for his Ausbildung, finding it both physically and mentally challenging. He began his Ausbildung at the prestigious Elztalhotel in Freiburg, a city near the Black Forest in Germany. Initially, adjusting to the high standards of the hotel was tough. “During peak hours, the kitchen was chaotic, and the chefs were perfectionists,” he recalled. Although he experienced homesickness, Albar eventually adapted, crediting his success to his parents’ prayers and his own perseverance.
Despite the difficulties, Albar completed his courses this year. “Thanks to the prayers of my parents and the support of good people, my studies went smoothly,“ he said. He appreciated the substantial stipend from the hotel and plans to work there full-time after completing his Ausbildung. “The salary is higher than that of a government official,” he joked.
Albar recommends the Ausbildung program for those wanting to study abroad with guaranteed employment and financial constraints. “With Ausbildung, you continuously learn and stay updated,” he said. Although Albar has two more years to complete his Ausbildung, let’s cheer him on for continued strength and success.
Keep chasing your dreams, Albar!
